Colorado Hunting Ranch

About Us at Cottonwood Hunt Club

Owner/Trainer Ted Hoff of Cottonwood Ranch and Kennel and Cottonwood Hunt Club moved to Crawford in 1990, to live in Western Colorado and pursue a dream to train hunting dogs and develop a wonderful setting for his family. Ted has trained dogs since the age of 10 and hunted upland bird equally as long. His passion for the outdoors lead him to the foothills of the West Elk Mountains where he has established a renowned training center for hunting dogs. For the past 19 years, Cottonwood Ranch and Kennel has hosted dogs from across the Continental United States, Alaska, Canada, South Africa, Venezuela and New Zealand.

Colorado Hunt Club

Our Ranch has been maintained as a private wildlife park providing habitat for Pheasants (annual breeding), Ducks and Geese, Dove, and Wild Turkey. Big game includes Trophy Mule Deer and a herd of Elk which winter on the ranch. Other wildlife seen on the ranch includes Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, large and small Hawks, Sand Hill Cranes, Badgers, Bear, Mountain Lion, Coyote, Bob Cat, Beaver, Muskrat, and Raccoon. In January as many as 12 Bald Eagles have been seen in the large Cottonwood tree standing atop the field full of elk in the early morning hours as the ducks come streaming in for the last bit of open water and feed. Our members are invited to stay in our beautiful 3600 sq ft custom newly remodeled hunting lodge, and enjoy the experience of eating beautiful gourmet meals prepared from wild game from the ranch.

Guided pheasant hunts across the ranch start in September and conclude in February. Duck and goose hunters will enjoy guided hunts at our private blinds during the Colorado Water Fowl hunting season.

Cottonwood Hunt Club emphasizes the outdoor experience in a very private setting that is unequaled in its natural beauty, and first class developed facilities. We have committed the entire ranch to the wildlife habitat. Our farming practices have been entirely focused on habitat improvement across the ranch, developing thick cover, feed, and live water. The hay fields are standing waist high for a Pheasant hunting field
